An Open-Source Gaming Mouse
Wareya took matters into his own hands after being dissatisfied with the fragile switches on his gaming mouse. He embarked on the journey of designing his own gaming mouse, and after numerous iterations, he settled on a design featuring an RP2040 microcontroller and an optical sensor commonly found in inexpensive mice.
The entire design is open source and available on GitHub. One of the key features of the mouse design is the use of a three-contact switch, with the third contact being utilized to aid in debouncing. This is crucial in gaming mice, where low latency is essential for optimal performance.
By incorporating the RP2040 microcontroller and carefully selecting components, Wareya was able to create a gaming mouse that meets his performance expectations while offering durability and reliability. His project serves as a testament to the power of open-source hardware design and the ability of individuals to create custom solutions tailored to their needs.
