Walking Desk Is More Annoying Than A Standing Desk
In an innovative approach to combating the negative effects of prolonged sitting, Joel Creates has taken the concept of standing desks a step further by creating a motorized walking desk. Starting with a standard standing desk, Joel replaced its wheels with motors sourced from inexpensive second-hand hoverboards and added casters. To enhance the smoothness of the ride, he upgraded the hoverboard wheels and casters with pneumatic tires. Control is facilitated through a thumbstick mounted on a mouse, allowing Joel to move around while working.
The walking desk is powered by a substantial bank of lithium-polymer batteries, responsible for running both the motors and the computer hardware. To maintain power during outdoor use, Joel incorporated a solar panel canopy to recharge the batteries. While the practicality of working on the move may be questionable, the walking desk adds an element of exercise to the routine of computer-based work. Although drawing attention, especially when Joel is walking trails with a complete computer desk, the concept provides a unique integration of physical activity into a computer-centric lifestyle. The video demonstration showcases this unconventional yet intriguing blend of mobility and productivity.
It’s quite the big project but you need to get those steps in somehow! But putting the entire table together might be easier done using some CNC machines from our website.
