Smart Coffee Replaces Espresso Machine Controller With Arduino, Sensors
The Smart Coffee project by Schematix offers a comprehensive upgrade for espresso machines, going beyond just temperature control improvements. It replaces the machine’s controller and provides an array of enhancements suitable for various single-boiler machines. While the project is not free (costing 16 NZD or about 10 USD), there is a free demo version available. While there is no official support, users can find wiring guides and sources for optional parts.
The Smart Coffee system is based on an Arduino MEGA 2560 PRO or a similar microcontroller, and it supports various additional hardware components like a pressure transducer, water level sensor, flow meter, OLED display, and more. This project simplifies the modification process for espresso machines, allowing users to delve straight into customization and function modification without needing to figure out the hardware interfacing from scratch.
For coffee enthusiasts looking to upgrade their machines for better performance and control, the Smart Coffee project provides a valuable platform to enhance their espresso-making experience.
