The MagiClick, a unique creation by [Modular], challenges the notion of a single-button keyboard by demonstrating its versatility through clever design and programming. While it technically has two additional side buttons, the central large switch, concealed beneath an 0.85-inch 128×128 display protected by a Pop-o-Matic bubble, is the star of the show. This single button, when combined with the ESP32-S3 and programmed in CircuitPython, transforms the device into a multifunctional tool capable of displaying live weather information, telling the date and time, functioning as animated dice, and serving as a stopwatch or Pomodoro timer. The side buttons provide auxiliary functions for navigation.
Inside the MagiClick, you’ll find blinkenlights and a small speaker, along with a GPIO expansion header on the back. This creative project is entirely open-source, with all the resources available on GitHub, inviting others to explore, modify, and build their versions of this intriguing device that showcases the potential of a single button.
