Brendan’s writing habit had waned due to the distractions of modern life and parenting. However, instead of resigning himself to the status quo, he embarked on a creative endeavor. He devised the Most Unusual Sentence Extractor, or MUSE, a Raspberry Pi-based typewriter with modern functionality. Inspired by the charming Olympia Traveller de Luxe typewriter from the 1960s and 70s, he used a 68Keys.io board as the foundation and recreated the vintage design in Tinkercad.
The MUSE typewriter features an LCD touchscreen, replacing the traditional platen. This upgrade simplifies document navigation and offers modern conveniences while retaining the typewriter’s aesthetic appeal. Brendan’s dedication to this project is evident in the machine’s remarkable craftsmanship, resulting in a truly unique and functional writing tool. Thanks to MUSE, Brendan has rekindled his passion for writing, proving the value of having a dedicated workstation for specific tasks.
In summary, Brendan’s MUSE typewriter combines vintage charm with modern technology, reinvigorating his writing journey. This project underscores the benefits of crafting specialized workstations for creative pursuits.
