Raspberry Pi as Tamagotchi: Hobbyist develops his own digital companion with MicroPython

Ready for a nostalgia drive back into the 90s? A robotics hobbyist has developed a digital pocket pet called “Picotamachibi” using a Raspberry Pi Pico. Inspired by the popular Tamagotchi from the 90s, this project allows users to create their own mini digital companion. The hobbyist, Kevin McAleer, designed and 3D printed the components, including a display with buttons. The foundation of the device is either a Raspberry Pi Pico or a Raspberry Pi Pico W. Detailed instructions and code are available on McAleer’s website for those interested in recreating Picotamachibi.
