How to Setup Reolink in Home Assistant
This tutorial guides you through the process of adding and configuring Reolink cameras in Home Assistant, a popular home automation platform. Reolink is known for its affordable and reliable security cameras, offering local access to camera feeds without requiring a cloud account login.
To configure Reolink cameras in Home Assistant, you’ll need a Home Assistant setup and at least one Reolink camera.
Here are the key steps to set up Reolink cameras in Home Assistant:
Configuring Reolink Cameras:
- You can connect to your Reolink cameras using the Reolink app on various platforms or via a web browser. The app simplifies camera setup and can locate the camera using a QR code on the device. You’ll set a password during the initial configuration.
- If you already know your camera’s IP address, you can access it via a web browser. Log in using the provided credentials or the default username “admin” with no password.
- It’s recommended to set a secure password for remote access and user management. Ensure you use strong, unique passwords for security.
- Enable RTMP, HTTP, and HTTPS within the camera’s network settings. These settings may vary based on your camera model. Saving the changes will trigger a camera restart.
Setting up Reolink in Home Assistant:
- In your Home Assistant installation, navigate to the settings and click on “Devices & Services.”
- If your Reolink cameras are already detected, click “Configure.” If not, click “Add Integration” and select the Reolink integration.
- Enter the camera details, including IP address, username, and password. If Home Assistant successfully connects to the camera, you’ll see a success message.
- You can view the camera feed and configure sensors and controls for the camera within Home Assistant. Add these to a dashboard for easy access and control.
By following these steps, you can integrate Reolink cameras into Home Assistant and access their feeds, sensors, and controls within your home automation setup.
