Building a Robot Bartender for Amazon
Audax made quite a splash with a side table that had a neat party trick up its sleeve – it could retract a glass and fill it with bourbon. The online community loved this quirky creation, and it even caught the attention of Amazon, who commissioned Audax to create an upgraded version. That’s when the real adventure began.
Audax faced a tight six-week deadline to refine this drink-serving marvel for its grand debut at a special event. The challenge was to make it sleeker and more compact. This meant switching from the original aluminum frame to a 3D-printed design, getting rid of the jumbled wire nest with some help from an outsourced PCB design, and adding cool new features like a mobile app for control and an Amazon Alexa Skill for activation.
But as it often happens, just when everything seemed to be on track, a last-minute hiccup required Audax to rush to Seattle for some on-site troubleshooting. In the end, though, the automatic drink server did not disappoint, delivering on its promise and leaving everyone impressed. It’s a testament to Audax’s determination and creativity in crafting a delightful customer-facing device.
Find Audax’s personal retelling of the story in this video. We love this idea and might even try to combine it with this self-balancing Serving tray and put it on some wheels!
