Boneblocker Is A Big LED Wall That Rocks
Nick Lombardy embarked on a project that many makers dream of: constructing a large LED wall, and he executed it with finesse. Named BoneBlocker, this project consists of an 8 x 14 array of glass blocks installed at a bar called The Boneyard. Each glass block is outfitted with a length of WS2812B LED strip, chosen at 30 LEDs per 3meter to manage power consumption effectively.
To control the display, Nick opted for a WT32-ETH01 board, an ESP32-based module equipped with onboard Ethernet. He utilized the WLED library for its impressive performance, deploying one board per column for efficient operation.
Nick’s article details the construction process, electronics setup, and software configuration necessary to enable various games on the display. Notably, he crafted a custom controller for gaming, adding an extra layer of interactivity to the project.
