An RC Tracked Robot, Without The Pain
Small robots are common across various levels, from basic STEM toys for kids to complex hacker projects. One example that balances simplicity and intrigue is the PlayCar from ComfySpace, a small, build-it-yourself-tracked robot controlled via a smartphone app. At the core of the PlayCar is a Raspberry Pi Zero 2W, surrounded by affordable, off-the-shelf modules for power and motor control. It’s powered by AA batteries, and the motors are geared DC units. After gathering all the components, the 3D printable parts can be downloaded from Printables, and the app is available for both Apple and Android platforms.
ComfySpace, a start-up with a focus on education, offers an open platform that could foster a community of users sharing designs and add-ons. Their approach is a promising one, allowing the platform to grow collaboratively rather than remaining closed off. For more details, a video is available to watch below.
