An Attractive Magnet Insertion Tool
Magnets are versatile tools frequently used in 3D printing projects, but placing them precisely can be quite challenging. Common problems include magnets sticking together unexpectedly, flying out of place, or getting glue all over your fingers. To address these frustrations, EmGi has developed a clever magnet insertion tool that simplifies the process and makes it much cleaner and more efficient.
The tool designed by EmGi is finger-operated and 3D-printable, featuring a single embedded magnet to help place magnets exactly where they are needed. This practical device has gone through several iterations to refine its functionality. Initially, it included two magnets, but this design had a significant drawback—if the tool wasn’t lifted off perfectly after placement, the magnet could be flung out of position.
After refining the design, EmGi created a version that works reliably, even under challenging conditions. To test its effectiveness, EmGi successfully deposited an array of 64 magnets without using any glue, demonstrating the tool’s precision and ease of use. Encouraged by this success, a second tool was printed to handle magnets of the opposite polarity, further enhancing the tool’s versatility.
This innovative magnet insertion tool offers a practical solution for makers and 3D printing enthusiasts who frequently work with magnets. You can see the build and demo in a video provided by EmGi, showcasing how this simple yet effective tool can streamline the process of inserting magnets into 3D printed builds.
