3D Printed RC Car is Geared For Speed
Building your own RC car from the ground up can be an incredibly satisfying project, and Jinan is a perfect example of what’s achievable. Rather than going for an off-the-shelf model, Jinan decided to create a custom RC car that could rival its commercial counterparts in terms of features and performance.
His primary focus was on crafting a rear-wheel-drive design with a low center of gravity to ensure exceptional handling. To keep the car stable during tight corners, he equipped it with two hefty 5.2 Ah batteries, strategically placed within the chassis. Additionally, Jinan engineered a front double-wishbone suspension system to handle rough terrain with ease.
What truly sets Jinan’s project apart is his dedication to the nitty-gritty details of engineering. He spent a considerable amount of time understanding the intricacies of gear shapes and employed CAD generators to optimize the drivetrain. Thanks to this meticulous approach, his custom RC car reached an impressive top speed of 66 km/h (41 MPH). Jinan’s journey, marked by his commitment to learning from failures and constant design enhancements, offers a valuable lesson in hands-on engineering that’s both inspiring and educational.
