Arducam announces a Raspberry Pi AI Camera-powered Pivistation 5 kit is coming soon
Arducam is launching a new version of its Pivistation camera kit, the Pivistation 5 – IMX500, designed for the Raspberry Pi AI Camera. Priced at $269 for pre-sale, the kit includes a Raspberry Pi 5 (4GB) and leverages the AI capabilities of the Sony IMX500 sensor, which handles all AI processing tasks, freeing up the Pi’s SoC for other functions. The camera supports up to a 640 x 640 image stream at 30 fps, and demo videos show its ability to run object and pose detection, classification, and segmentation smoothly.
The kit features a compact design with the new Raspberry Pi AI Camera mounted on an Arducam holder, which is compatible with previous camera models. It includes a heatsink for cooling the Raspberry Pi 5, and if it follows earlier designs, some active cooling is likely to be integrated. A micro SD card comes pre-configured, so users can plug in the kit and start using it right away. The setup is housed in the official Raspberry Pi 5 Case, with a camera mount point for tripods or rig clamps.

Though the final price hasn’t been confirmed, it’s expected to fall between $200 and $250, based on similar products in the Pivistation range. With the components and customized software included, the Pivistation 5 – IMX500 is shaping up to be a powerful tool for AI camera applications.
