Raspberry Pi Pico Becomes Emotionally-Aware Music Visualizer

Rafael and Eric have revisited the digital music era of the late 1990s and early 2000s by creating a music visualizer designed for the Raspberry Pi Pico. Going beyond the standard waveform and spectrogram displays, their visualizer employs a Fast Fourier Transform analysis to determine the frequencies of the music, aiming to identify the key and mood of the tune. Utilizing distinct colors to represent moods, such as green for happy music in a major key or deeper blues for a melancholic piece in a minor key, the visualizer outputs its results via Bruce Land’s 8-bit color VGA library, enabling the Pi Pico to directly drive a monitor.
This project not only taps into the nostalgia of the digital music era but also adds a layer of sophistication by dynamically representing the mood of the music through color-coded visual elements. The use of the Raspberry Pi Pico and FFT analysis showcases the potential for creating unique and engaging visual experiences in the realm of music and digital art.
