Recovering a Physically Broken SD Card
It sounds like StezStix Mix faced a rather unique challenge when his SD card suffered a dramatic encounter with his office chair. Despite being nearly snapped in half, the card still held crucial data from an important video. Fortunately, his resourcefulness and determination led to an intriguing recovery process, documented in a couple of videos he shared.
The real stroke of luck came from the fact that the card’s circuitry was remarkably compact, resembling a tiny PCB barely larger than the contact pad area of a standard SD card. However, integrating it into an SD card socket posed a significant hurdle. In his first video, StezStix Mix ingeniously wired it to a USB card reader, navigating through a few initial challenges before successfully accessing the data.
But the story doesn’t end there. Viewers suggested a simpler solution: attaching an SD card-shaped piece of cardboard. In the follow-up video, StezStix Mix explores this option, experimenting with both cardboard and an SD to micro SD adapter. While crafting a fitting piece proved more challenging than anticipated, he eventually found success, demonstrating that sometimes, innovation lies in the simplest solutions.
