Raspberry Pi 4 brings KITT from Knight Rider to life using ChatGPT
Makers often find inspiration in their favorite sci-fi adventures, and today we’re diving into a Knight Rider replica showcased by the Knight Rider Historians’ YouTube channel. AJ and Joe, the duo behind the channel, are passionate about all things Knight Rider and have built an impressive collection of props from the original series.
Their latest project is an interactive KITT replica, equipped with a Raspberry Pi and ChatGPT integration. Resembling the iconic voice box from the car, this prop listens for audio input, converts it to text, and sends it to ChatGPT for processing. The response generated by ChatGPT is then converted back into audio, accompanied by flashing LEDs for added authenticity.
Powered by a Raspberry Pi 4, the setup includes a USB microphone and speaker for audio input and output. The KITT board, featuring a matrix of LEDs, was contributed by a viewer and enhances the visual experience during text-to-speech interactions.
Setting up the project is straightforward, as it runs on Raspberry Pi OS and utilizes OpenAI for ChatGPT functionality. With its seamless integration and captivating interaction, this KITT replica brings the magic of Knight Rider to life for fans and makers alike.
